Trouble with fonts/scaling

Post by iNside »

Hello, I have just installed your mod, set Mode=4 in ddraw.ini to fix colors on my win7 x64. But I still have problem with fonts in game, which are almost unreadable. Check it in attachment.

I am facing Fallout mod installation for the first time and looking forward for you help.
I've got version 1.0 UK of Fallout 2, but couldn't find working patches.

Thanks in advance.

You play in 640x480px with the 800px interface. You either have to switch to 800x600px or open up the f2_res.ini and change "IFACE_BAR_WIDTH=800" to "...=640". I personally suggest you to switch to the 800x600px resolution.

It doesn't matter what version of Fallout 2 you use. Mutants Rising comes with it's own core files.

Thanks a lot! I switched to 800x600 in ddraw.ini and everything is OK now. I wounder why there are different resolutions in ddraw.ini and f2_res.ini.

ddraw.ini is scalling up the low resolution to your high resolution (but the amount of stuff you see is the same), while the f2_res.ini belongs to the high-res patch and defines your true game resolution. You can also set this ingame in the option menü, btw.

I personally like to use a 1280x720px resolution. It suits my 24" widescreen tft very well.
