Interested in Helping?

So, you've seen the demo. You've seen the screenshots and read about the mod as a whole. Do you like what you see? If yes, then maybe you'd like to be on the other side of the fence and help out with the production of the mod.

What do we expect?

The bottom line is simple. We expect a contribution. Whether it is twenty in depth dialogue trees or one piece of artwork. We don't mind how much you do towards the project, only that you do something. All of our members have other commitments other than fallout and cannot do something every single day, but by contributing regularly, we have been able to push forward with the mod

Who are we looking for?

Almost anybody whos willing to help somehow. 2D / 3D artists, writers, script guys, film makers, etc. if you think you have the skills to advance the mod, make a thread where you show your previous work, say a few words about yourself and why you'd like to work on the mod.

I think I could help with some dialog trees and such. Just need to know what you NEED and what you had in mind.

Hi Skorn, thanks for the offer. In terms of writing, we are very nearly done. I don't think any new guy would want to write the end boss :D: if you really blew us away with something insanely good, then I would let you take a shot at him and his associated goons. We give our writers true creative freedom, and with that comes a lack of spoon fed ideas. With such a small team you are basically thrown in at the deep end. We work from design docs, but we each have to put our selves into our work with very little input (ask Aaron :D: ), so in terms of telling you what you need to write, you may find your self in trouble.

Allot of writers have joined and have been unable to cope with the creative freedom most claim to crave. I think eight writers have come and gone in the two plus years I have been here, with most amounting to nothing, and setting the project back months. Writers quitting is the most destructive thing for MR. Reliable writers are very hard to come by, and trusting new writers not to quit is hard for me (Pavlovs-Dude101). We have ubber artists, ubber mappers and an ubber scriptor, so the only real delay to the project is caused by us.

End rant (think fight club, and me telling you to get off the porch)

From your location "Sleeper Base" I can tell I want to work with you already though :P you will like the Las Vegas I recently wrote. There is potential scope for more content like that in a potential future expansion pack. MR's story is very compatibly with Wasteland inspired stuff. Post release, we will definitely be recruiting green writers again, so keep that in mind if I have scared you off.

Well it does sound unrealistic, cause I sure don't see myself as the next Lem or Strugatsky  although I do like to read a lot. And adding a new writer to the team at that point would just slow you down more. And we want this mod before the fall =)) ; but this:
Dude101 wrote: Post release, we will definitely be recruiting green writers again, so keep that in mind if I have scared you off.
sounds much more reasonable. Will be happy to participate with ideas, story arcs and all if you find my writing appropriate to your game style/overall plot ideas.

Well as a matter of fact I do something similar; I tend to make homebrew p'n'p games set in Fallout universe for me and my friends and most of the time I act as a GM, so I'm pretty much neck-deep in design docs; I have a few campaigns under my belt and one of them is rolling just know (we started of in mid April). I generally like toying around with ideas for new areas, plots around them, background&history of Fallout universe as well as npcs/quests...it became sort of a hobby for me.

All these elements ^^ have their part in a story. And a good story needs them to blend in as good as possible, that much I know; so as a hard-core Wasteland/Fallout fan and roleplayer, I have no problem with that - designing areas/towns/dialog/stories from scratch.

As for the trouble, I like trouble, trouble is healthy :::D:

I'm pretty sure that this is very much true, and can't blame you for lack of trust.

Always nice to hear that there are more Wasteland fans out there :) can't wait to see that Vegas thing you mentioned while enjoying my second drink in Spade's Casino of course :D:

This is really really good news. I hope that more than one expansion pack will come to pass. But seeing how devoted you guys are, I guess it's just the matter of time, nothing more.

If I have my way, and I generally do in the shape of MR, there will be one and only one expansion pack for MR1. It would add in content that has been cut due to lack of time / workers etc...

...as for more packs and games beyond that... only time will tell. Garrett has a hold on me.

And this statement gives me more than enough hope that you people will gather around at least for making Mutants Rising 2 :::D:

I could contribute a few pieces of artwork here and there... as well as contribute story line idea's, and even 'short stories' to pass the idea through. Don't know how much I'll be able to help at this point. But frankly I don't have much to do after 4pm when I get off my bus from school besides skate board. I don't really know sh*t about scripting, or programming or anything of that matter... just feel that, as a die-hard fallout fan, I am obliged to help in some way... I am writing a little quest outline and then 'book format' word doc, if you guys are interested in adding it to MR or not I don't really care, as long as I can contribute

hi, i read on NMA that you still had need for artists. im a 3D modeler/animator and have just finished doing my degree in computer animation at Portsmouth uni. i would be happy to send you some of my work if you wanted to see it and would love to be a part of something fallout related. hope you still got room for one more and hope to hear back from you guys soon! :smirk:

@ curse.

If I had a hundred artists I would find them work!! I don't suppose you can make talking heads can you? (hopes!)

Send / upload some of your work so we can get a feel of what you can do. Which i assume is a great amount if you've just done a degree in it!

@ dogmeat

Like curse, if you'd like to send us some artwork to give us a flavour, we'd love to take a look. We're not looking for writewrs as much asd there is little left to do on the writing side. However, there are rumours around that there may be a sequel to MR, so maybe then we would need writers and ideas.

hhm, Ya I think I'll just wait until the sequel is coming into form to submit some writing idea's. Looking at Curse's art makes me piss myself... lol hard to compete with (nice job curse, awesome artwork), in the mean time I need to hone my skills with auto-cad and other 3d programs first. But in the meantime I could scan in some sketches, paintings, free-hands drawings, etc, etc. So just hit me up with any open positions, like I said; I'm a die hard fallout fan so anything you guys need to stop the whole FMF dilemma from happening again...

@ cuse.

Sorry I wrote Curse earlier!

I'll take a look on tuesday. (I'm on dial up - can't get on you tube) But I think the rest of the team have seen it.

@ DOgmeat.

ANything that anybody can do will be a help in the long run. So if you want to join up, then upload us some things so we can see what you can do. I'm sure there's some artwork we can get oyu to help with.

I was told recently that GMail works. If you have an issue making an account, we can speak to one of the Admins, and get them to create it.

You will mostly have to imaging what the TH's will look like, but we could always ask one of our other artists to create som design sketchs. How about this guy for a start:

Bryan Fargo

We will approve access to the dev forums here for now.

Or Fat Freddy:

Cuse,

If you sign up for an NMA account I'll give you access to the private forum and we can get started over there.

Thanks for helping out,

Ive been a diehard fallout fan since i was a wee lil shit talker. Not alot of skill I can offer (other then writing and ideas), but I have friends of all circles, If you need writers, artists, programmers, w/e tell me, n i'll start pushing for owed favors (they all owe me on some degree lol) ^_~. I want to see this done, especially considering a new fallout2 map/story line/etc is a wet dream of mine. Just wish i'd have heard about this mod sooner.

Ps, i have to say, you guys are my fucking heroes! You should be winning a Nobel prize for this.

Well, we'd be interested in any help we can get, but only if they wanted to. We're not into enforced labour!

If you have friends who are truly interested in helping, then point them here.
